This has been a wild ride already and as Teddy's breeder Linda said,"you need to buckle up for safety" ! November Saturday November 10th Teddy competes in New Zealands Dog of The Year competition. Dog of The Year is a show where to enter your dog must win a BIS or BISS to qualify. It follows a knockout format, where two dogs are judged by 3 judges in the ring and one dog goes through to the next round, leaving a Top 4 to fight it out for the Top prize. It's a black tie event and rather prestigious. Well we made it through 3 rounds and finished in 5th-8th placing out of 41 entries. So I was REALLY happy with that as he is still such a young dog at just 1 1/2 years. The Top 4 dogs were all multiple BIS winning dogs and deserved to be there. He has already qualified for next year from his Sporting Specialty win a few weeks back so we will be back next year to give it another shot. Judges were Gary Doyle (NZ) Ms Hilary Pedersen (NSW) and John Rice (Adelaide). At Franklin KA Champ shows on Saturday November 24th Teddy wins Best of Breed and makes the cut in the Group under Mrs Jocelyn Croad (QLD) Sunday 25th November he wins Best of Breed under Ms Lorraine Harris (Sth Aust). So now our show year is over and Teddy has proved his class time and again, beating all the Top show Vizslas in the country more than once. He arrived in the country as a youngster and only started showing in June, yet he won an All Breed BIS over 700 dogs and a BISS show beating more than 200 Gundogs for that win as well as 13 Best of Breeds. Teddy finishes the year Number 5 Gundog on Dogzonline Pointscore 2007 and we hope 2008 will be just as good for him! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to all. Ben and Craig. |
