Tomas Vizslas is a kennel owned jointly by Ben Sheehan and Craig Thomson.

Our interest in the breed started after attending The Pet Expo in Auckland New Zealand in 1997. We were looking at which breed we thought would suit us. After spending many hours there we were on our way out the door and spotted a beautiful noble looking dog sitting on a seat peering at us. That was Spirit - Ch Tigar Lily of Szep-Allat , owned by Jenny Hawthorn. We were hooked. This chance meeting has changed our lives. Jenny is now a close friend of us all and Spirit is the mother of 3 of our dogs.

Spirit was only 1 1/2 when we first met her and so we booked a puppy from her first litter and waited. In Dec 1999 Ch Barat Cognacs Rising Star - Tomas was born. 

Tomas started a love affair with the breed for us. He taught us so much and sadly we lost him to meningitis in March 2006. We honour him by naming our kennel after him so his memory will live on in any dogs we produce. 

Agassi of Szep -Allat - Charlie arrived in March 2001,from the NZ kennel of Jan Edwards who passed away shortly after. He was a repeat mating that had produced Spirit and out of two imports from Australia Jan had purchased from Agnes Palis Hubertus Vizslas. 

He was followed by BISS Ch Barat Dream Come True - Spencer in Nov 2001 the undoubted star at Tomas Vizslas. He is from Jenny Hawthorns' Barat Kennels. With over 100 Best of Breed wins Spencer is a stunning example of the breed.
They were joined in June 2003 by Spencers litter brother Ollie who had already been neutered when he arrived and is a dog rescued from people who could not cope with the Vizsla personality. They are not the breed for everyone.

In Oct 2005 Craig purchased Louis now Ch Hubertus Le Garcon - from Agnes Palis'  Hubertus Vizslas in Australia. He brings in much needed new blood to the gene pool here and is giving Spencer a run for his money in the show ring. 

May 2007 marked the arrival of Bens USA import  from Linda and George Durham's Renaissance Kennels . Having already made his mark in the show ring in the USA, Teddy achieved his title at just 9 months of age and is known as Am CH Renaissance Kiwi Made In America. A wonderful achievement, thanks in a large way to his handler Lindsey Fields for caring for and titling him. Less than 2 months after his arrival,Ben and Teddy achived an All Breeds Best In Show over 700 dogs. WHAT a start to his show career here!

2007 finished with Teddy winning a Specialty Gundog show over 220 dogs as well as more Group wins. 2008 started with a bang when he went Reserve Best In Show in late Feb,a star in the making,we hope so!

All dogs are handled by Ben to their titles in New Zealand.

We are a small kennel as yet not breeding . Though our males are availiable at stud to approved health tested bitches. Price of stud or semen availiable on request.
